Eugene Marathon

We're back home and hobbling around like fools after a weekend of grand (and not-so-grand) adventures. It was great to be back in Eugene; being there again made me realize just how much I miss it and how easy it is for me to be myself in that city. I tried not to think about leaving too much, but I still broke down for half an hour as soon as we hit the freeway. That made for a fun drive, lemme tell you.

Yesterday evening I was in a foul mood. All things considered, it made sense-- I'd just left the one place that feels like home and all my friends with it, I was exhausted and sleep-deprived and my legs weren't functioning. But when I sat down with my computer and went through all the marathon photos, my spirits improved.

GO TEAM LLAMA!

From left to right: Sara [5k], Susan [Half marathon], Rachel [Marathon], Kat [Marathon], Justin [Marathon], Kyle [Marathon]. Note the spiffy green llamas stenciled on our team jerseys!! (Sara and Susan had already changed.)

All of the photos in the marathon gallery are taken by Chris of "The Gadget Monster & The Teacher" except for the last four, which Dylan bravely took with his macro lens. Be warned, they are very nasty pictures of my post-marathon feet.

I was surprised when I whipped off my shoes to be met with massive blood and water blisters on several toes and the side of my right foot. Strangely, my feet didn't/don't hurt at all, unlike my legs which burn and cramp when I try to sit or stand. I'd already lost one toenail during training and it looks like I might be fated
